The perfect way for your christmas turkey to quietly slip away is the cubanos or Cuban sandwich. Combined with all those yummy morsels of ham, chestnut stuffing and cranberry sauce…even a cold crispy roast potato or two, a grilled Cuban sandwich fires up all those festive taste buds in one bite…
An authentic Cuban sandwich uses pan Cubano. A bread made using lard imparting a subtle flavour and helping create a softer chew. In the absence of authentic Cuban bread, a fresh crusty baguette or thick slices of focaccia will suffice. Simply stack-load your baguette or focaccia sandwich with your tasty elements.
A smear of mustard on both sides of the bread, sliced cornichon or other pickle and a short squeeze of a lemon will add a spike balancing out all those festive flavours. Once fully loaded, brush the whole sandwich with melted butter and grill till toasted and crisp. A sandwich maker or similar is perfect for this although a heavy frying pan will work equally as well with a midway flip to make sure both sides a good and brown.

Serve to friends and family around your favourite dining table, antique or other wise, and wait for the smiles to appear. A cold cerveza will seal the deal! Enjoy!!
