The now ever popular trend towards Swedish and Scandinavian furniture continues its march into interior design. A particular feature more with period and antique Swedish and Gustavian pieces are the reeded elements of the furniture.
Reeding in plain terms
In plain terms, reeding is the addition of raised straight lines creating a linear textured surface. From a aesthetic point view, this reeding adds a decorative aspect to the piece elevating it to a higher level of finish. Seen mainly on doors and panelling of other types, the reeding is generally narrow in width producing fine elegant surface blending with period and contemporary decor within the home.
