A wonderful example of a Swedish Mora clock with distressed paint.
Swedish Mora clocks have become a must have for many interior design projects. A classic Swedish antique, the Mora clock will sit calmly in any room with its curvaceous form and welcoming chime.
Mora clocks originated in the town of Mora in the province of Dalarna, Sweden in the late 18th century. Originally made as timepieces for local farmers, these clocks were simple in design with a wooden case and a single hand to indicate the hours. Before long, the Mora clock became a fashionable statement in many Swedish homes and were very often presented as wedding gifts.
